Hey gang. I’ve got a great show coming up with Red Kite at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen. Tickets Here.Red Kiteare a hoot, two drummers, three guitars… great songs.
I’ll be playing with my full band, and if all goes well with this show I might have some good news about releasing my record. Please do make it down and say hi!
Is also looks like I’ll be filling in for one of Red Kite’s guitarists for their Reading show on April 26th. Pretty excited about blasting out some of those hooks.
In other news, I’ll be guest appearing at the Oliver Wilde concert at the Lexington on April 3rd. Singing my guest verse and playing guitar on Perret’s Brook. In case I haven’t harped on about it before, Oliver’s new record is sooooo good.
I’ve gone and posted new track Here I Land in celebration of hitting 100,000 SoundCloud followers. I’ve been sitting on this song for ages and it’s one of my favourite songs on the new record, I hope you like it too.
Nicholas Stevenson’s biography claims that he was “found as a child wandering a North American wood on all fours.” While we doubt this, there is a dreamlike quality to Stevenson’s lo-fi folk jams that makes you half believe that it could be true. His quieter songs have an ethereal tenderness that recalls the likes of Elliott Smith, while his louder moments bring to mind Weezer’s scuzzy geek rock.
We love how Nicholas leaves comments for other SoundClouders, not to mention his beautiful artwork – which he creates himself! Way to go, Nicholas.
I have a couple of shows coming up soon! Starting with a show at Surya in London on Friday the 1st, event page is here. I’m playing this one solo and trying out some new stuff. Also playing are Wayter, featuring my pal Eddie Halliday. They are awesome, go see.
Next on Sunday the 3rd of June, is a show at How The Light Gets In Festival. If you fancy trekking on down to Hay on Wye it should be a blast. There are lots of talks and intelligent events too in true Hay on Wye fashion… I’ll be playing with my friend Benet of Deep Elem fame, who recorded my Aeroplane Darling EP.
Lastly I’ll be playing guitar for the amazing Mr Dupret Factory on June 14th at The Good Ship in Kilburn. Event page here! Keep your eye on these ones…
Hilldrop Records have put out another awesome compilation record, full of mostly lesser known English lo-fi and folk stuff. This one features Dry The River, Eddie Halliday, Ursine Vulpine, my partner in sounds Oliver Wilde, the well kept secret genius Little Sea Monsters, and a ton more great stuff. Oh and the last track is by yours truly, you can listen to ‘Night Swimming’ in my soundcloud player to the left…
After painting the record sleeves for the split 7 inch, Oliver and I played some songs in the woods near Bristol. You can’t really see that we are in the woods; the car headlights only illuminate so much, but I promise we are… - Nicholas
